Mom, Dad, and 2 kids have come to a river, and they find a boat. It is small and can only carry one adult or 2 kids at a time. Both kids are good rowers, but how can the whole family reach the other side of the river?

That’s easy. It never said they all had to come across at the same time. The two kids take one parent, row him or her across, then come back and row the other across.

Here:
Two kids go across. One kid comes back and swaps out for mom. Mom, now on other side, swaps out for other kid who goes to pick up his sibling and bring him to mom’s side. So now we have Dad on one side and Mom with kids on other side with boat. One kid goes to Dad’s side. He swaps with Dad, who goes to other side with Mom and a kid. So now we have a kid on one side and Mom, Dad and a kid with the boat on the other. The kid with the parents takes the boat across to pick up the kid on the original side to reunite him with his family.
Problem solved.

If they can afford having two kids, they should be very able to just hire a local fisher to get them across.
Actually, having two kids might hinder their finances.
