OK, long story short, Gentoo’s out for a while. I’m having some serious issues with udev and booting, and I don’t see myself going through the trouble of fixing them. That means…
I’m looking for another distro/OS. I’m probably going to stick with Linux, and I don’t really feel like messing with *BSD.
Don’t want to use Suse, RH/Fedora, Mandriavevaievieanix, or any of the other really big corporate ones.
I’m thinking of going with a Debian derivative. The name Ubuntu keeps popping up in my mind, but I would like to avoid it. It does look very nice and shiny though…
If anybody has any suggestions at all, I would love to hear them.
…Thank you?

uhhh……
…Try restarting the computer. Or whacking it a few times. That usually does the trick for me.
If that fails, screw it and go back to stone slates. The cavemen knew what the f*ck they were doing.
Why don’t you want to go with any of the big distros? Seems like they’re the most supported and will give you the least hassle.
dude
ubuntu dapper
its what i am using right now it works great ask Ibloon
I’m using Ubuntu Dapper right now. I hate it. I’m switching away next week. This is really terrible. If I wanted to use Windows, I would use Windows.
I wasn’t aware Windows had apt-get. In all honesty though, Dapper was a big disappointment in the rest of the Linux community. It’s still full of bugs and stuff. Linux Format recommended Fedora Core 5 out of the 3 most popular distros (Ubuntu and Suse being the other two, determined by the stats on distrowatch) as the most stable. I’d have to agree.
Ubuntu is just like Debian…but bad. I probably will end up going with Debian. Now that’s real Linux.
