Apache2Triad

Have you ever wanted to run your OWN apache webserver complete with MySQL, PHP, PYTHON, PERL, XMAIL, PGSQL, SLIMFTPD, and OPENSSL?  Alot of people do.  Unfortunatly the amount of headaches involved in installing all of those seperatly scares most wanabe server-admins off.  So…  How can you get all of this in one easy to use package?  The answer is Apache2Triad.  It combines all of the above into one install and configures everything so that it will run right away, no extra headaches.  I was up and running with it in about 10 minutes, including installing wordpress ontop of it all.  Its quite amazing.  This package is windows only however, so if your into linux or mac you might want to look at this page for some other packages: here

    …say WHAT?

Perl isn’t supposed to be all-caps. Why would I want to use some other software for all that? I have portage for that.

  3. 3 IBloon

Thats for linux, not windows. This is for windows… As far as I know, portage is for linux only. Therefore, if you use windows, this would be a recommended way to make your windows a server.

Perl is all-caps if I want it to be.

  4. 4 Fyorl

If you’ll notice, nearly all of the items listed are in all-caps, not just perl

  5. 5 micro506

HEY HEY HEY, get it straight, portage is for Gentoo only. Although, of course, the BSDs have Ports, but that’s a whole different story. PERL is incorrect, it’s not supposed to be an acronym. It must be either Perl or perl. I don’t care if all of them are all-caps, Perl is that which concerns me. Why would anybody want to run a webserver on a Windows box?

Lol Nice pic micro. Haha. In other news, if you had a windows, and you wanted the compatability with most software on the face of the planet that windows offers, and you want to be able to develop web-based software. Then why WOULDN’T you want a webserver on a windows box? Or in this case, my laptop?

If its all caps, it doesn’t mean it is a acronym. I was just trying to emphasize the different things that apache2triad includes.

Anybody who wants to do any serious webdev should be using Linux.

I’m sorry but Windows is holding back computing with all its propietry crap. I won’t go into it but without open-source, how can you build on other people’s work and learn from their mistakes?

  10. 10 micro506

The open source movement is too weak, not extreme enough. The FSF, however, has the right idea.

  11. 11 Fyorl

Surely it’s more extreme than the FSF?

  12. 12 micro506

Of course not. The OSS movement is all about “choices” and “the best for everybody.” The FSM is about VIOLENTY destroying proprietary software in all of its forms.

  13. 13 IBloon

Lol. Hey guys, most coding languages are open source nomatter what system your using. Php, html, etc. I use windows and I program in mainly php and html. Why do I need linux? I am not doing serious devving and I want the compatability that windows offers. Plus, most of my clients use windows so I can quickly troubleshoot any problems that they are having by simply doing the same thing on my machine.

Seriously… All these movements are great and all. But just because their a good idea, doesn’t mean there the best for right now. I agree, everyone should be using linux, and everyone should be opensource. But right now windows is at the top of the food chain. And whether I want to play the latest game, or run the latest software, windows is currently my best bet. I can do the same amount of programming on both systems and I can get similar programs (if not better) for coding and the such. Can linux run adobe? I thought not. So, please, rather than simply screaming about why OSS is better all the time, atleast think about the now.

The future is coming, the now is now… Be best in the now, prepare for the future. Thats how I live.

…Linux can run “adobe”. We just choose not to use bloatware. It’s people like you, IBloon, who are the problem. People like you who are the problem. You are the disease, the infection that must be removed from the system, ONCE AND FOR ALL.

  15. 15 micro506

Besides, Adobe produces some of the most proprietary software around. In this fight, you’re either with us or against us. DEATH TO PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE.

  16. 16 IBloon

I disagee, I believe that I can be both for AND against you. I am against you and your kind always screaming at people for using proprietary software, and I am also for you promoting it, although perferably in a nicer way. :D

  17. 17 Fyorl

Some people can’t work without Windows software for whatever reason. But now open-source alternatives are springing up everywhere people have less reason to stick with their unstable and insecure proprietry crap. The best incentive to switching is that open-source software’s all free. The only problem is, Microsoft has such a large foothold in the market that most average joe PC users don’t know that anything else exists.

  18. 18 micro506

Nice? Nice? This conflict has nothing to do with niceness. It is a FIGHT TO THE DEATH, a fight that will be won at ALL costs. There will be NO HOLDING BACK, and we WILL be VICTORIOUS.

    There will be no compromise.

Sweet. I’ve been looking for an all-in-one with this sort of functionality. Thanks for finding it.

I’m going to use this for my DJ page/requester.
Yes, you read that right. I’m DJing on an online radio station — www.phoenixradio.org — and although I’m only slotted for two hours on Thursday, I play a whole lot more than that. Tune in sometime if you get the chance.

  22. 22 IBloon

Lol, cool radio man. I am guessing your name is “origional_nick”? In other news, doesn’t it say on the app that you need to be 18? :)
Just messing with ya. Anyways, I shall listen when your on if I can.
